Let’s get the party started!

We’re ready to start creating the Beacon Arts Village. Can you help?

Some of you have expressed an interest in renting studio and retail space or volunteering in some way in the scheme.

From the end of March 2018 there will be some spaces available for creatives to rent, and get the Beacon Arts Village going; we don’t need to wait until all the funding is in place.

If you are interested please get in touch. This will be managed by project partners the British Art and Design Association (BADA) as demand is likely to be high and it is important for sustainability that the right balance of creative businesses and individuals is maintained now and into the future.

To register your interest please send an email with a CV to info@badaart.org.uk

Also, while the project emerges, we hope to start using the Old Town Hall for pop up cinema screenings, theatrical productions, art exhibitions, public events, live music and more. This will generate revenue to enable the Steering Group to continue developing the project.

In order to do this we need a veritable army of volunteers to help with getting the building fit for purpose; painting and decorating, making temporary blackouts, fitting equipment and more general support.

To volunteer please email info@hoylakebeacon.org.uk

If you have not already done so, please add your voice to those who have already sent supporting comments to Wirral Council for the Hoylake Beacon Scheme’s planning application. You can do so here. A decision is expected some time in May.

The Coastal Communities Funding round for England has finally been announced and along with Hylgar Properties, who own the buildings and land, we will be submitting an application in the coming weeks. This will be for costs of renovation, conversion and fit-out of the Old Town Hall (cinema, restaurants and creative industry office spaces); plus the new artists and makers units and atrium café elements of the scheme.

Thanks for your support!

The Beacon Steering Group

p.s don’t forget to tell your MP and Ward Councillors that Hoylake deserves and needs this project! Unless they hear from you, they will be none the wiser…
