A central space for users of the Beacon scheme – residents, tenant businesses and visitors, to meet, with a glass roof, open kitchen and small retail units around the edge. This view looks back towards the original arched entrance of the Fire Engine House and into the 'arcade'.

View: Atrium Café.
Project by: Falconer Chester Hall

Interior view of the Atrium Café, looking back to the entrance.

This space, until recently used as car parking space for DWP/Job Centre staff and other tenants, will be the ‘hub’ of the scheme, with a café/courtyard, with small retail units accessible from two sides. The atrium café will open into the evenings for live poetry, comedy, music and other performance.

The glass roof will provide a light, airy atmosphere.
